Questions
Who are you?
We are an independent club of nearly 200 local people who share a common interest
in walking for pleasure in the Sussex countryside.
What do you do?
We usually have an all-day circular walk of between 9 - 14 miles every Sunday
all year round and shorter walks on most Saturday afternoons
in the Summer.
Who leads the walks?
The walks are organised and led by the members themselves, but there is no
pressure on any individual to lead a walk.
Where do you walk?
We walk in a variety of locations in Sussex, allowing members to choose their
preferred terrain. We also have occasional walks and holidays outside Sussex.
May I come along on my own?
Of course you can! In fact, most of our members join as individuals and soon
feel part of the group.
What should I wear?
Anything that is comfortable and will keep you warm in the winter and protect
you from the sun in the summer. Most important is to wear comfortable shoes
or boots which you don't mind getting muddy occasionally!
What should I bring with me?
On our all-day walks a small rucksack containing something to eat and drink
at lunchtime and any extra layers of clothing would be ideal.
May I join a walk without first becoming a member?
Absolutely! You are welcome to join us for a few walks as a guest before becoming
a member. Just turn up and introduce yourself to the leader, who will make
themselves obvious.
May I bring a dog with me?
Sorry but no, unfortunately we do not allow dogs (other than guide dogs) on our walks.
How do I get to your walks?
Generally, our members make their own arrangements for travelling to and from
the start/finish points but members who live near one another will often share
a car.
